Starlit Retro Dreams

This Fourth of July is going to be one to remember. Not just because it’s a perfect excuse to get outside, fire up the grill, and concoct some patriot cocktails (more on that in a bit), but because the NASA space probe Juno is scheduled to arrive at Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system. The night sky will be drawing our eyes for more than just the usual display of fireworks; after a five year journey Juno is going to draw closer to Jupiter than any probe has ever come before. Talk about a groovy encounter!

To help you get in the space age mood we’ve got the wildly popular Atomic Dreams print back in stock. Sheet sets, duvet covers and more have landed back in our warehouse and are ready to launch straight to your front door. This design is by the uber-hip California artist, Ragnar. With warm earth tones and playful shapes, this print will be there to help you put on your own private fireworks display in the bedroom. And just as Juno gets ready to explore the mysterious layers of Jupiter, the Atomic Dreams design is ready to help you explore some things as well.

If you’re looking for ways to celebrate the Fourth of July right alongside the journey of Juno let us help you with some drink and snack ideas! Delicious treats? Roger that!

Outer Galaxy Cocktails

Not only does this cocktail from The Tipsy Bartender look like astronomical art, it also just so happens to feature the red and blue colors of the American flag. Win, win! Whip up a starry batch of these for your friends this weekend and relax beneath the stars.

Start by pouring in the bottom:

½ oz. Simple Syrup

½ oz Blue Curacao

Next, pour into the middle:

1 oz. Strawberry Rum

1 oz. Cranberry Juice

Top that off with:

1 oz. Vodka

1 ½ oz. Blue Raspberry Juice

Blue Raspberry Extreme Airhead Gummies

Enjoy!

Galaxy Bark

This Galaxy Bark from Life With the Crust Off is a marvel to look and not nearly as difficult to create as you might think. When your friends start oohing and ahhing this weekend it won’t be because of the fireworks; it’ll be because of this treat!

Start off by purchasing:

2 lbs. of black candy melts

2 bags of blue candy melts

2 bags of purple candy melts

Star Sprinkles (ideally white and blue)

  1. Melt the black candy melts and pour into a greased/foiled 9X13 pan
  2. Melt the blue candy melts
  3. Melt the purple candy melts
  4. Drop spoonfuls of the blue and purple atop the black bark
  5. Use a knife to spread the two colors around in a swirling pattern
  6. Decorate the top with the star sprinkles
  7. BONUS: Get edible glitter dust for an added starlight effect!
  8. Break up into chunks
  9. Enjoy!

This Fourth of July be sure to do what you do best: good friends, good food, and good style. Blast off!
